FATHER & SON NIGHTS
NEXT DATE: SEPTEMBER (hopefully)
For fathers and sons ages 6 and up
Fathers and sons are invited to join us for our third Father-Son Night in the next month or two! These nights are designed to create space for fathers and sons to have fun together, build meaningful connection, and grow in what it means to follow Jesus as godly men.
Our second gathering included bows, arrows, target practice, epic Nerf battles, and a short study from Scripture. Fathers had an opportunity to speak encouragement and wisdom into their sons, and sons had space to share where they’re at as well.
This is especially geared toward fathers with younger sons, ages 6 and up, but older sons — including high school and college age — are welcome too. The goal is simple: to invest in our sons, strengthen relationships, and help train up the next generation of men to walk with Jesus in wisdom, courage, humility, and strength.
We hope this becomes a regular rhythm throughout the year as we gather for games, food, Scripture, prayer, and intentional discipleship.
What to expect:
Games, Scripture, prayer, and father-son connection and encouragement.
Who’s invited:
Fathers with sons ages 6 and up. Older sons are welcome too.

FOOD SHELF

Our food shelf is such an incredible outreach and ministry to hundreds of families in the North Metro. It is open on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, as well as open to our congregation on Sundays after church following the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. Also, we are in need of more plastic bags! So if you would like to volunteer to serve or simply drop off some plastic bags, please talk to Geri Buck or email the church at office@wayofthelord.org.

Flourish is starting back up for September, and we’d love to have you join us!
This month, we’ll be focusing on supporting a healthy immune system as we head into the fall and cold-and-flu season. Come ready to learn from one another and share some of the foods, recipes, supplements, essential oils, herbs, and everyday practices that have been helpful to you and your family.
Have a favorite immune-supporting recipe? Bring a copy with you, or send it to Julie or Dawn ahead of time so copies can be made to share with the group.
We’ll also spend some time discussing bladder health and common concerns, giving women an opportunity to share personal experiences, helpful practices, exercises, products, or other resources they have discovered.
Most importantly, Flourish is about caring for the whole person—body, soul, and spirit. Together, we want to thank God for the bodies He has given us, seek His wisdom, and encourage one another as we learn to steward our health well.

BIBLE READING
PLAN
Join us for our next church-wide Bible Reading Plan as we journey through the New Testament from May 3 through September 12, 2026!
Together we’ll walk through Luke and Acts, tracing the life, teachings, death, resurrection, and mission of Jesus and His Church; then move into 1 Corinthians, Philippians, and Ephesians, where we’ll be shaped in holiness, unity, joy, maturity, and life in the Spirit; then into the Gospel of John and 1 John, where we’ll behold the glory of Jesus and grow deeper in truth, love, and abiding in Him; and finally we’ll spend four slower weeks in Revelation, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the hope of His return, true worship, faithful endurance, and God’s final victory.
Our Sunday messages will follow along with the reading plan, helping us grow together as one church family in the Word. Let's seek the Lord together, hear His voice in Scripture, and let His Word shape our hearts, homes, and church in this next season.

FOOD PROGRAM
We have a great new way to stock up on healthy food and bless Way of the Lord! Way of the Lord is now a drop site for Azure Standard’s “Around the Table” program. When people choose our drop for their orders, WOTL receives 2% back on those orders (paid out quarterly).

PRAYER MINISTRY
We endeavor to be a heart knit and relationally based community empowered by the Holy Spirit that deeply cares about your personal, spiritual, and emotional needs. Every week immediately after our service, we have prayer ministry teams available up front at our altar. Please do not hesitate to receive prayer from one of our compassionate and prophetic prayer ministry teams.

INTERCESSION
The engine that drives the ship in the Kingdom of God is prayer.
We value and encourage you to prioritize both:

THE FUTURE
For decades, God has been so faithful to our church and to Northside Christian School. Many of you have prayed, given, served, and poured yourselves out so that generations could meet Jesus, be discipled, and be sent out.
Now we sense the Lord inviting us to take another step of faith together.
Under the banner of “Honoring the Past and Embracing the Future,” we are moving forward with plans to build a new gymnasium that will serve both our church and our school—a space for worship gatherings, chapels, kids and youth ministry, community events, outreach, and everyday discipleship.
Why a Gym? Why Now?
This is more than a building project—it’s an investment into people and the future of what God is doing here.

A place where students will hear the gospel, grow in character, and encounter Jesus.

A place where our church family can gather, worship, celebrate, and serve together.

A place that says to the next generation: “We believe in what God wants to do in and through you.”
We believe the time is now because:

God has already begun stirring hearts and opening doors.

Our current spaces are stretched, and the opportunities for ministry are growing.

Waiting years down the road could mean missed opportunities to reach and disciple the kids, students, and families God is bringing to us right now.

COMMENDING & COMMISSIONING NIGHT AT GUH
Gathering Unto Him: Commending & Commissioning
Sunday, September 20 • 7:00 PM
Celebrating Hidden Faithfulness. Commissioning Kingdom Service.
God is at work all throughout the Way of the Lord family—often in ways that don't happen from a platform or receive much public recognition.
On Sunday evening, September 20, we are setting aside a special Gathering Unto Him to recognize, pray for, bless, and commission people and ministries faithfully serving within our church family and beyond.
Throughout the evening, you'll hear briefly from several ministries and groups, learn more about what God is doing through them, and join together as a church family to pray over and strengthen those who are serving.
This may include ministries such as our young adults, moms and men's gatherings, home groups, songwriting and recording, outreach and jail ministry, discipleship groups, and other expressions of ministry that have grown organically from within our body.
Some ministries are highly visible. Others happen quietly around tables, in homes, behind the scenes, in studios, in prisons, and through ordinary relationships. All of it matters to the Lord.
This evening is an opportunity for us to say:
We see the grace of God at work in you.
We thank God for your faithful service.
We stand with you.
And we bless and commission you to continue faithfully in what He has called you to do.
Come worship, hear what God is doing throughout our church family, and help us pray for and send one another forward in the work of the Kingdom.

PRAYER WALL &
ART CORNER
One of the quiet treasures in our church has been the Prayer Wall & Art Corner on the south wall of our foyer. For years, it’s been a place to display original, God-inspired content—paintings, drawings, poems, Scriptures, and creative expressions—and also a place where we can share prayer requests and support one another in prayer.
Over the past season, Irene Hilliard has graciously invested her time, creativity, and energy to make this wall more usable and interactive for all of us. We’re so grateful for her heart to help our church family connect, encourage, and build one another up. Here’s the invitation for this season: anyone in the church is welcome to “design” the Prayer Wall for a month at a time.
A family, a Home Group, a ministry team, a group of friends, or an individual—everyone is invited.
✅ How to sign up: There is a sign-up sheet on the right side of the wall. Simply choose a month and take ownership of that month’s “prayer mandate” focus.
🌿 Vision: We’d love for the wall to be interactive—as much as possible engaging the 5 senses—so it becomes a living, participatory space where we pray, reflect, and encourage one another. This is a practical way for us to share life, share inspiration, and join together in the beautiful vision of community God has called us to.
Example (March): You’re invited to lay hands on different ministry letters on the wall as a way to impart Aaron’s blessing and speak God’s favor over the ministries of our church.
This is very much in the spirit of 1 Corinthians 14:26—“When you come together, each one has…”—a simple way for us to bring our “each one has” to the family.
And as we pray, we’re believing for the kind of life and healing pictured in Revelation 22:2—fruit in every season and “leaves…for the healing of the nations.”

FRIDAY FAMILY WORSHIP WATCH
Friday Family Watch
Building the Ark Together. Discipling Every Generation.
First Friday of Each Month | 6:00–7:00 p.m.
Beginning Friday, October 2
Friday Family Watch is a monthly gathering for families to worship Jesus together, grow as disciples, and intentionally build strong, Christ-centered homes.
As a church family, we believe God has called us to love and disciple every generation into the family of God. Friday Family Watch is one practical way we want to live that out—creating space for parents, children, grandparents, and families of every season to seek the Lord together.
Friday Family Watch will take place in the Sanctuary from 6:00–7:00 p.m., with an intentional emphasis on involving and discipling our children and young people. We hope to see many of them helping lead, serve, sing, play instruments, pray, read Scripture, and participate in worship as they learn what it means to minister to the Lord and serve the Body of Christ.
This is not simply a children’s event or a family program. It is a place where generations worship together and where younger disciples can learn by participating alongside parents, leaders, and the wider church family. At 7:00 p.m., Friday Night Intercession will continue as usual in the Parenting Room for those who want to remain and press into prayer together. Friday Family Watch is not replacing Friday Night Intercession, but creating an additional opportunity earlier in the evening for families and children to engage in worship and prayer together.
Whether your children are little, teenagers, grown, or you simply want to invest in the next generation, you are invited to come and be part of what God is building among us.

SUKKOT (FEAST OF TABERNACLES) 2026
Feast of Tabernacles / Sukkot 2026
September 23–27 + Community Potbless Date TBD
Join us as we celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) together as a church family!
Sukkot is one of the great biblical feasts of the Lord—a joyful time of remembrance, thanksgiving, worship, fellowship, and looking forward to the fullness of God dwelling with His people. Israel was commanded to live in temporary shelters and remember how the Lord faithfully provided for them in the wilderness. For us as followers of Jesus, the feast also beautifully points us to Emmanuel—God dwelling with us—and to the day when the dwelling place of God will be fully and forever with His people (John 1:14; Revelation 21:3).
Throughout the week, we’ll gather as generations and families to build sukkahs, pray, worship, camp under the stars, share meals, and celebrate the goodness and faithfulness of God. Come for one event or join us throughout the celebration!
Wednesday, September 23 | Sukkah Build Night
5:00–7:00 PM
Help us transform the church grounds as we build sukkahs together as a church family! We’ll have building, fellowship, a bonfire, and games.
If you have them, bring branches, poles, greenery, and basic building tools. Kids and families are especially encouraged to participate—it’s a great opportunity to work, learn, and celebrate together.
Friday, September 25 | Sleep Under the Stars
7:00 PM Prayer + Overnight Camping
Our regular Friday night prayer gathering will become a special Sukkot night of prayer, worship, fellowship, bonfire, games, and camping under the stars.
Families are invited to sleep overnight in the sukkahs or bring their own tent or shelter.
Bring: flashlights/headlamps, sleeping bags and blankets, tent or shelter if needed, snacks, guitars and instruments, marshmallows, and whatever you need for an evening outside.
You are also welcome to participate in the evening even if you aren't able to stay overnight.
Saturday, September 26 | For His Name’s Sake Worship Concert
6:30–9:30 PM
Come for a special evening of live worship and dance with For His Name’s Sake.
This will be a night set apart to minister to the Lord, rejoice before Him, and celebrate the King together during the Feast.

Sunday, September 27 | Special Sukkot Sunday
10:00 AM
Our Sunday morning gathering will focus especially on Jesus and the Feast of Tabernacles—exploring the biblical story of Sukkot, what it reveals about the heart of God, and how its themes of God's presence, provision, harvest, joy, and dwelling with His people ultimately point us to Christ.
Come ready to worship, learn, and celebrate together.
Community Potbless Meal | Date Coming Soon
One of the highlights of Sukkot is simply being together around the table, so we are also planning a church-wide Community Potbless Meal.
The meal will be held on one of the following dates: Sunday, September 27; Saturday, October 3; or Sunday, October 4. We will announce the final date and time as soon as plans are confirmed.
When the date is finalized, each household will be invited to bring a generous dish to share—enough for your family and a little extra so that there is plenty to welcome guests and bless one another.
Come Rejoice Before the Lord
Sukkot is ultimately a feast of joy and presence. It reminds us that our security is not found in permanent structures or earthly circumstances, but in the God who faithfully dwells among His people.
So bring your children. Bring your Bible. Bring your tent. Bring something to share. Bring a heart ready to worship.
Let’s celebrate the faithfulness of God together as His covenant family and look forward to the day when:
“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.”
Revelation 21:3
